Emerging Topics at the Third Italian Conference on Computational Linguistics and EVALITA 2016

Editors: Roberto Basili, Simonetta Montemagni

This is the fourth issue of the Italian Journal of Computational Linguistics, the fist volume of the third year of IJCoL publication. The journal is confirming itself as an important forum for promoting and disseminating research results  achieved by the Italian computational linguistics community  from different and complementary perspectives.

This miscellaneous volume collects work inspired by young researchers who emerged as particularly promising within the CLiC-it 2016 Conference, held in Naples on 5-6 December 2016. These contributions testify original and innovative research lines of the Italian computational linguistics community. The papers included in this volume have been selected for the CLiC-it 2016 best young paper awards and, in their extended version, they appear here as journal articles. The issue also includes an invited contribution by the organizers of the EVALITA 2016 evaluation campaign.

We leave the readers the pleasure to discover the wide spectrum of interesting ideas, evidences and achievements through a free sailing across the volume contents.
